The Double Stop Quartet represents the top tier of String Theory. These talented musicians are driven, dedicated, and passionate about broadening their repertoire in addition to the String Theory music. Members commit to 1-1/2 hour weekly rehearsals in addition to regular instruction.
This 2019-2020 season's repertoire includes classical selections such as Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major, Op. 73 "Emperor", and select movements from Handel's Water Music. We have even added the fun piece "This Is Halloween" by composer (and Oingo Boingo frontman) Danny Elfman!
Sacred compositions include: Nearer My God To Thee, Amazing Grace, To God Be the Glory, All Things Bright and Beautiful, Caccini's Ave Maria, Come Thou Fount, Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer, Holy Holy Holy, It Is Well With My Soul, Simple Gifts, and What Wondrous Love.
The DSQ will perform at the Annual Denham Springs Nativity Celebration in December of 2019, and actively volunteers for prelude/postlude music for church services at nursing homes.
Keeping in line with the mission of String Theory, DSQ's primary function is to share their music with the community via outreach programs, charity events, community events, and nursing home facilities.
If you are a home-schooling co-op in Louisiana or Mississippi, we would like to work with you! Contact us to coordinate a visit with with us. We are happy to meet with and expose the youngsters to our music and instruments we use to make it (who would otherwise not have that up close opportunity).
